The name Effetto 71 honors that #signature #bounce and #ping-pong’s ability to foster peace and unity. In 1971, the Chinese government invited the US #table #tennis team to visit China for a series of friendly matches, even though the two countries had severed diplomatic ties decades earlier. The young Chinese and US players transcended borders and cultural differences around ping-pong tables. These matches represented the beginning of a renewed relationship.

The Effetto 71 further transforms the sports with its crystal table top. Far from fragile, the transparent material is rock solid and the ball bounces smoothly for a fast, fluid game. The solid American walnut legs are shaped to represent the ball’s trajectory inverted and harken back to the lines often seen in 1950’s and 60’s Italian design. It takes a simple movement to transform this game table, versatile and multipurpose, into a minimal living room table.
