Several Writers Announced as Winners of International Writing Contest In Glittering Ceremony With Guest of Honour Oscar Winning Screenwriter of Rain Man

The Page Turner Awards celebrated several winning authors, writers, and screenwriters at a glittering online ceremony where Oscar winner, Barry Morrow, who wrote the story Rain Man, was a special guest of honour.

The Page Turner Awards, sponsored by ProWritingAid, offers authors, writers, and screenwriters the chance to enter the first 10 pages of their writing project, where a judging panel of literary experts and film producers will read the work.

For the 2022 awards, many aspiring writers walked off the red carpet with life-changing prizes.

One new unpublished writer won literary agency representation. Another won a publishing deal while Shia Beouf won the Page Turner Screenplay Film Script Award for A8450, M.D. He also won representation with Sean Dubravac of Entertainment LA

Eight writers won writing mentorships and one independent author won an audiobook production from Squeaky Cheese Audiobooks, plus three authors won a book adaptation to have their published novel adapted to a film script. There were many more prizes awarded to writers in different award categories.

Barry Morrow said, “Thank you so much for having me. It’s been so much fun watching the anticipation and joy of these awards. And to remember what it’s like to start your writing career. It’s a wonderful thing you are doing, and I’m happy to be part of your awards.”

Founder of Page Turner Awards and award-winning novelist, Paula Wynne said: “There are writers from all walks of life, from manual labourers to academics, all with stories to tell, and most of them heart-warming and moving. We’re proud that our awards celebrate excellent writing and help writers and authors to get their stories discovered.”

  • Screenplay Award Winners
    • Shia Beouf won the Page Turner Screenplay Film Script Award for his historical fiction submission, A8450, M.D. He has also won representation with Sean Dubravac of Entertainment LA

    • Sean Slater won the Page Turner Screenplay Film Script Award for his action adventure script, The Devil and Dick Gregory

    • Laura Whitton won the Page Turner Screenplay TV Series Award for her drama submission, Birthweight

    • Michael Clifton won the Page Turner Screenplay Short Film Award for his horror submission, Gloves

    • Jodie Smith won a book adaptation for her published women's fiction novel, Bayou Cresting

    • Justine Smith won a book adaptation for her published historical fiction novel, Daisy Chain

    • Meredith Wargo won a book adaptation for her published true story, Dawgs

  • Book Award Winners
    • Tamra Ryan won the Page Turner Non-Fiction Book Award for her published book, The Third Law

    • Tom Joyce won the Page Turner Fiction Book Award for his thriller novel, A Missing Peace. He has also won an audiobook production with Squeaky Cheese Productions, plus the Golden Author Award

    • Kay Mancino won the Page Turner Young Writer Award for her unpublished short story, Apoptosis, or Cell Death

    • Jane Bond won the Page Turner Writing Award for her unpublished Fantasy novel, Flick-Flack

    • Victoria Brown won the Page Turner Writing Award for her unpublished LGBT novel, Darling Girl
