Key Findings
- Out of all the most commonly mispronounced foods, Gnocchi (Nyoh-key) is the most misspelled with 295,800 searches a month for Gnocci (170,000), Gnochi (118,000) and Gnochhi (7,800).
- Bruschetta (Bru-sketta) is another commonly mispronounced food, and is also commonly misspelled with 230,000 misspelled searches a month for Bruschette (147,000), Bruschetta (55,000), and Bruscetta (28,000).

The Top 5
Italian foods make up the top two with Gnocchi (Nyo-key) and Bruschetta (Bru-sketta), the most commonly mispronounced foods with 295,800 and 230,000 misspelled searches per month respectively, with common searches for Gnocci (170,000) and Bruschette (147,000).
Next up is Kombucha (Kom-boo-cha), a fermented tea with plenty of health benefits. However, it is commonly misspelled and mispronounced, with 157,000 global searches a month for Kambucha.
A food that is notoriously mispronounced is Macaron (Mah-kuh-ron) with people commonly mistaking it for Macaroon, - with 136,000 searches a month in a bid to understand how to spell this popular French dessert treat!
Daiquiri (Da-kuh-ree) is a very popular cocktail around the world, but we are still guilty of messing up the pronunciation regularly. And not only that, it’s also regularly misspelled, with 129,000 misspelled searches a month for Daikiri (77,000), Daquiri (48,000), and Daquari (4000).
The Bottom 5
Prosciutto (Pro-schoo-toe) is another Italian classic that is commonly mispronounced, and research shows that it is commonly misspelled online as well, with an average of 61,600 misspelled searches per month for Prociutto (22,000), Proscuitto (38,000), and Proscutto (1,600).
Camembert (Kah-mum-beuh) is a surprisingly common food to be mispronounced, and is also commonly misspelled - with 32,800 searches a month for Camambert (23,000), Camenbert (8,600), and… Cannonbear! (1,200)
In 8th is Charcuterie (Shar-koo-tuh-ree) with 26,000 misspelled searches on average per month for Chacuterie (17,000), Charcutier (5,800), and Charcuteri (3,200).
The penultimate food Top10 Meal Deliveries investigated is Mascarpone (Mass-car-po-nay) making it the second cheese on the list, with an average of 18,900 misspelled searches per month for Marscapone (3,400), Mascapone (14,000), and Marscarpone (1,500).
And finally, Guacamole (Gwa-kah-mo-lee) is at the bottom of the list, with 6,400 searches per month on average for Guacomole.

Methodology
- Top10 Meal Deliveries sought to seek a correlation between mispronounced and misspelled foods
- Top10 Meal Deliveries searched through articles such from Taste of Home, You Magazine, and Healthnation for common mispronounced foods, as well as articles and quizzes about the most misspelled foods from Buzzfeed, 967 The Eagle, and Grubhub as well as food names that have appeared in spelling bees from 2010, 2014 and 2015. The foods that commonly appeared were put into a seedlist.
- Ahrefs was utilised, inputting each popular food and drink, extracting American Google searches for the most misspelled words, as well as common variations. The data was cleaned and filtered to produce a top 10 list of commonly misspelled and mispronounced foods.
